Takeaways from the seminar

To provide an insight into the nuances of Intellectual Property protection, management and risk management.

The seminar will start with the session “IP risks in Product/process development” by Dr . Kalyan C Kankanala , CKO, Brain League IP Services and alumni of NLSIU, Bangalore and Franklin Pierce Law Centre, USA . The session will provide an in-depth understanding of the principles relevant for assessing IP Risks and the steps to be taken for risk management.  The session will also provide detail information about Scale of risk, Mitigating factors, Infringement Analysis, FTO Analysis and Strategic options

The second session – “Developing a good IP portfolio for business advantage and R&D strategy” will be delivered by Mr. Arun Narasani, CEO, Brain League IP Services and alumni of IIT -Madras and IIM-Bangalore. This session will deal with IP protection options and steps for optimizing protection in the light of resources. Key issues like IP Protection mechanisms, Business goal and R&D Strategy, Protection management will be addressed in this session.

The next session “Recent Trends in IP” will be delivered by Mr. Nishant Kewalramani, Portfolio Manager, Brain League IP Services, alumni of NLU-Jodhpur and Franklin Pierce Law Centre, USA.

This Session will provide an understanding of recent trends in IP law. The session will touch upon case studies to explain certain decisions delivered by Indian Courts in the recent past and their effect on Intellectual Property practice in India. The session will also cover issues like patent prosecution changes at the Indian Intellectual Property office, strictness of administrative principles at the Patent office, changes in Trademark practice in India, Copyright amendment bill 2010 and the like.

The final session is the Panel discussion and IP Counseling with the team of experts. This session will provide the participants an opportunity to have a one to one discussion to address specific IP issues pertaining to the development of product/process.
